Sorry for this off topic question but there are so many good gear heads here that I thought I would ask.

My friend bought a 2003 Dodge 1 ton 4X4 and ordered it with a limited slip rear end. Well the other day he was driving in his place with a ton of rock and got stuck. One front tire spun and one rear tire spun. Well he was pissed off cause he ordered it with a limited slip. He checked the glove box sticker and it showed the truck had a limited slip.

Well we ran it by a friends shop and jacked up one rear tire. He got in and put it in drive (two wheel drive). He got it up to 45 mph and it never went anywhere!

He went to the dealer and they said it was some new style of limited slip and it was suppose to be smoother. (Well it's so smooth it's like an open diff!) The dealer also said you need to put a load on it to get it to work. He had a ton of rock in the truck at the time he got stuck!

Anyone hear of this or know of anything? Any help would be appreciated.

PS: They took the cover off and yes there is some sort of unit in there but it just takes up space. lol
