I have a 2001 3.9L with a 5 speed. The shifter is so long and the throw between gears is pretty wide. Also I don't like the shifter being so far up in toward the front of the cab.
What I'm thinking is taking the center part of the seat out, then taking the shifter out and getting a short throw shifter to put right next to me on the floor where the center part of the seat was. I've heard about the hurst shifter for the dakotas but I don't want something to go in the same spot that the shifter is now. I want it closer to me.
I'm just wondering if this is possible and if it's even worth the hassle. Any help and/or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
