I got my K&N FIPK (14 X 3) installed on my 93' 3.9 a while back and now i want to move to a larger TB. Whenever i start the truck in the mornings i hear this air whooshing noise of the iac pulling in air to keep the engine running and to me its pretty loud especially on cold starts. Many people ask me whats wrong with my truck and between that and the noise its getting pretty annoying. I mean it almost sounds like my radiator or radiator line is punctured. So I heard if you get a V8 throttle body this will make that noise go away? I was thinkin about goin to my local parts dealer like Napa and see if i can get a 92-95 318 TB? Does anyone know if this would help the noise problem and would that yr of the 318 TB be to big? And also, how much would this cost? Some help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I remember Larry talking about this in another thread a while back... that whooshing noise will be reduced some if you install a larger tb, but it'll still be there. A 92-95 tb will work for your truck. 96+ won't. Not sure if you'd have to change the linkage or not. Depends on what linkage your truck already has. Cost should be I think I read somewhere around $135 (you could prolly find one for a lot cheaper if you do some searching). Also you'll lose a lil low end torque (won't be very noticeable) with a V8 tb and gain everywhere else. If you get a modified V6 tb (fastman or f&b) you will have gains everywhere, but they cost a considerable amount more. Not sure of those prices though. I think one is around $400 and the other is a lil cheaper.

I put a V8 tb on my six shooter and that was the best thing I ever did for it. I dont think I lost bottom end but I really gained top end pull but I also have free flowing exhaust. but I would recommend it
