Message: Just got some new tires - got the stock 255/65/16 Goodyear Eagle LS. Still being in school I can't afford a new set of 4 so I just used the spare and got 3 new ones. After shoppin around here in Michigan the best deal out the door is Discount Tire. $113/tire plus disposal, which is about $3 a tire, and tax. Belle Tire came in highest with base price of $187/tire and that does NOT include mounting, balancing, etc. Just thought I'd let u guys know.

Message: AJ, I'm from MI also. Where do you live? I'm up in Flint. I'm going to be needing tires before winter and there is no way I'm gonna get the 255 LS' that you bought. I mean they handle great on dry pavement but they are terrible in water and snow, which as you know, we have lots of up here. lolz I'm thinking of going with a set of Dunlop Radial Rover A/T's, or Pirelli Scorpion A/S' in 235-75-15 for winter duty. This summer I'm going to purchase a set of American Racing Burst rims in 16x8 and Kumho Ecsta STX in 255-65-16

Message: I agree w/Mike. Those are great tires for dry, smooth and warm pavement. Just don't get them in wet, cold, loose gravel, snow, ice or any combination.
I run the Wal-Mart brand Liberator A/T LT235/75R15 with great success in the Mud, Rocks, Gravel, Sand, rough trails and very occasional Ice in Texas. They were only $82 Ea. The traction benefits of an Off-Road tire without all the Road Noise created by a Mudder Tire. I run the LT's for my heavy hauling and Hard Play, otherwise I recommend the P235/75/R15's. They are about 3Lbs lighter each tire and ride much smoother from the softer compound/sidewalls and about $10 cheaper each.

Message: Dude, I got a great deal on the tires for my 2000 dak, Goodyear 275/60R15 (don't remember name past that) mounted balanced for 75 bux a tire. 50,000 warantee. It looks pretty sexy and took care of some traction issues.
http://www.geocities.com/dakmopardoge/big10.html, they work fairly well off road too.

Message: MikeS,
Since I'm still in school my folks have a "family" deal through AAA. Used to have Allstate but they dropped me becuase I got hit by someone else! AAA is probably the best way to go if u have multicar insurance. My home is in Clinton Twp but I'm at Western Michigan University right now. You guys are all right about those Goodyears - suck with any sort or moisture at all. Best way to go would have to be the Michelin's. More expensive but well worth it if you can afford it!

Message: Mike S, I got LT235/75/15's. I was gonna get the 30x9.5/15's but i figured that big a tire i would loose too much power. the 30x9.5's were like 90.00 each.

tire rack $ 63 for 235R75 15 with a 500 treadwear and a AB tac/temp
FYI if the tire doesn't have perpendicular grooves on the outside tread of the tire - it's not worth crap in the rain. and learn to read the small print on the tire and what it means - not just the brand name.
yoko were made in Japan and they're great wet or dry

Message: A while back I put a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo,s on my 97 Dakota. Purchased them from the tire rack. This is without a doubt the best truck/SUV tire I have experianced to date. I have owned a pick up for years. The turn in is crisp (rare for a truck tire) Rear end chatter on cornering with no load is nonexistent. Snow traction is also way up. I feel that tires will make the biggest inprovement to a vehicles handling and this tire hit the nail on the head. It is also a smooth enough ride that I just put the sma tire on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee ltd.

Message: Michelin's are some of the best tire's if you are looking for durability. Here is a seceret when buying tires, 9 times out of 10 your bigger chain tire dealer's (Wal-mart, sears..) will have a line of tire's that are made just for them to offer but they are made by a large quality tire manufacter just under a different name with the same performance and half the cost.

Message: I ran Over a Gas Cap in the road coming out of Austin, Put a gash in the corner of the sidewall and the tire blew @ 75MPH.
I put on the Spare and went to Wally World to invoke my Tire Protection Plan.
Brand New LT235/75/R15 Liberator for.... $20
They prorated the tread left on the Tire and gave me a $41 Discount! Not bad considering I already had 20K on the tires. I didn't think they were gonne give me anything for it considering the tread already had major cuts & gouges from driving thru sharp rocks off-roading. Man I luv Wal-Mart!
I priced the tires while I was waiting the 30 min to get my tire back. P235/75/R15 are $51 & $10 more for the LT version. That comes out to about $300 for LT's w/Protection Plan, Mounting, New Valve Stems, Lifetime rotations & Re-Balance, Disposal & Tax.
I only purchased tires from "The Tire Rack" once. I was stationed in Germany and It was nearly impossible to get a decent tire without paying AAFES 300% mark-up price. I ordered a set of Wrangler GSA's for my Ford Ranger. All was good until I put it on a Balance machine. 1 of the Tires was Out-Of-Round. I called them up & they told me to mail it back to them (25 days + $35 Shipping) and they would send me a replacement (another 25 days). I said to heck with it and kept it on the rear and dealt with the wobble until I got back stateside to get a replacement and then they said since I mounted it they wouldn't warranty it. Of course I mounted it, I wasn't gonna Pay AAFES $15 Ea to mount & balance. Just my personal bad experience with them & thus I'll never do business with them again.

Message: I have 32's(BFG AT/KO) on my 97, QC, 4x4. No lift, not even cranked torsion bars. They fit..but i cant do a full crank of the wheel or the tires rub something fierce. Not a problem unless trying to park in a tight spot...even then i have "some" skills so its not a big deal.
Love the BFG's ....they are a bit pricy but wear like Steel. I got 73K miles out of my last ones. Had quite a bit of tread left on them but they wouldnt stay balanced for crap after 65k.
