Subject: "Deck Plate Mod"? IP: Logged
Message: For all those who are tech saavy would this work if we did this to a 3.9 Litre V6 Airbox? My buddy did it to his Tacoma and he said it works great. Just curious if we could do the same thing?

Message: I think he's talking about a 1" spacer between the TB & the Intake. It works great on old Carbed engines like 350's & up, I've heard from people on this board it does nothing for the Fuel Injected 3.9's.

Message: It has something about drilling a 4inch hole in the airbox. I will get the link and put it on here asap.

Message: OK
Yes will work the same allowing more air flow just
be sure you do not drill so any air enters
without going through the filter first

Message: You could spend 18 bux at advence auto parts and get a 9x2 inch breather like this one on mine www.geocities.com/dakmopardoge/motor11.html. The only down side that I can thing of is that when your motor has been on for a shizzle long time it sucks in a lot of engine heat. But with the airbox gone it gives plenty of room for ignition upgrades!!

Message: That looks like it would work, except like Larry said...make sure where you cut it, that incoming air still has to go through the filter. I like the design though. I don't think there'd be a "seat of the pants" improvement, but it looks like there would be SOME improvement.
