Message: I have an 87 Dak with a 3.9. When I got it I was told it had a 91 engine. It looks like someone made a plate to bolt a Holley 2bbl to the TBI intake. I'd like to put the right intake on it and straighten out the cold start problem it's always had. It's getting cold and I'd rather not have another winter of letting it warm up for 20 minutes before It'll go. Any advice or even someone that makes an aftermarket intake?
Thanks

Message: they '87-91 engine is all Gen I and should be the same engine anyway.
Do you have a Pic? Actually several pics from different angles would help.
Is there an EGR system hooked to the rear of the pass side exhaust manifold the runs into the rear of the intake?
Is it all hooked up & functional?
The EGR should make the engine warm up much faster than that.
Also, check to see if you have a thermostat installed. Probably a good idea to get it replaced now before Ole' man winter arrives.

Message: The 87 is the only year for the Holley 6280 feedback carb. the rest of the gen 1 engines have throttle body injection, and a different computer(87 had the SCC) The motors will swap but if you don't swap the gas tank, fuel lines and computer youll have problems; the 87 has a mechanical fuel pump the rest have tank mounted electric pumps. wich will put too much pressure to a regular carb, unless you put in a fuel regulator.
The 87 computer doesn't need to have a feedback carb to function.
So in short probably what you have is a newer motor with your old computer and a aftermarket carb. you'd probably be better off just adjusting your choke. that should get rid of your cold start problem.

Message: Hey vern, I'll take that carb if you still have it. my 87's carb was shot so I had to get an adapter plate and put on a 4 barrel. (the plate was 20 dollars and I already had the 4barrel). Its running but I'd like to have my 4 barrel back for my ramcharger. Let me know a price and I'll get back to you with my shipping info. my e mail is rd400f@hotmail.com thanks.
p.s. I could probably use some other parts too. e mail and we'll talk.
