Message: It's time for another oil change and I'm faced with the same issue that has bothered me since I bought my truck. It is a 2000 4x4. There are no grease fittings - or provisions for fittings - on any of the steering or suspension components. A Dodge mechanic told me the only thing I can do is to spray WD40 on the rubber boots. Is this true? It just seems to defy logic. Those components HAVE to lubed. Especially on a 4x4!!! Thanks in advance for your help.
Message: Sway bar is about the only thing you can lube and only when it starts squeeking. A silicon lube spray works good.
The upper, lower and the steering ball joints are sealed and do not need lubeing. Some use a needle type of greaser to inject grease into them.
When I replaced mine with the 99 MOOG upper ball joints I ripped open the boots and the one that was still sealed was well greased still and I had never done anything to them. Three years of service and over 65k miles on them with lots of off roading.
Here is the video that shows this at the end.

You'll see the reason why I replaced mine as well. The right BJ had the boot cracked and it was being penetrated by all the elements and such.
