Back when you only got a 12,000 mile waranty I bought a Ford Maverick with 302 v8. Between 12,000 miles and 18,000 miles, The transmission went out, the rear end went out, the engine got to the point that it would only get 4 mpg and would not go any faster then 45 mph. My mechanic pulled the heads and sent them to a machine shop and they said that they had never seen heads so worn out. I called the Ford district manager and he told me that if I would put it back togeather and get it to the dealer they would fix it. He and I got into an argument over it ahd he told me thatI was stupid. I told him that yes I was stupid for buying a Ford. That was my last and will be forever my last Ford.

In many peoples eyes the v-6 = embarrassment so Limp noodle is partially correct. I never bought my Dak for speed but was disappointed about the power nonetheless. Anyway, I just picked up my 04' Ram HO CTD 2500 4wd today and I am most impressed with it after my first day. Actually I can't wipe the grin off my damn face. :) I need to find a buyer for my 99 Dak slt cc so I can get some room back in my garage. Any takers? Only 80k miles and never any problems. ;) lol.

As far as what year truck anyone buys or pays for it is up to the owner. If stiff has a nice 96 and wants to save his money that that is his business. He did say he could buy one, he just didn't.
But if you really think yours is a pile then dump it for something else. But PLEASE quit crying about it on this forum! Of course you will probably get a Ford and be on the Ford forum crying about it as well. I feel sorry for anyone around you!

My college education got me far enough not to be a baby about a few problems with my truck.
Yes I would buy a new Dak if I wanted, actually I can afford several, but I like my 96. I have fixed it up nicely and have put mods on it that I got off this forum from all of the nice people here (all others except limp).
As far as your problem limp, live with it and don't be a baby. As I said before, you only need to read.
I am done with this post, if limp wants to contiune to be a baby, then limp can go on. I know I am at least not a LOOSER! Only a LOOSER like limp would post after this. Ha ha ha. Watch and see.
