 Subject: 1997 dakota transmission problem

Hi, I recently bought a 97 dakota with 61000 miles on it. Everthing was working fine for a couple of days. Then i took it for a 200 miles plus trip, on which it didn't show up any problems. But after that if i drive it in the city traffic for an hour or 2, then get on the highway, the auto transmission does not get into OD mode, it either gets stuck on the 2nd gear or jumps between the OD and 3rd gear. Did anyone of u have similar problems. Also I spoke to one transmission shop guy, he said that some transmission oil pump might not be pumping properly after the transmission gets hot and one more person told me that the torque convertor might have gone bad.
If i drive it on the highwayonly i do not see this kinda problem.
