Subject: Fog Lights IP: Logged
Message: I just bought my first pickup truck. It is a 2002 Dakota Sport club cab. I want to install fog lights. How do you remove the hole covers in the bumper, do they have to be cut out? I would appreciate any information on the installation and wiring for the fog lights and also what type switch is best and where should the switch be mounted? I seen a new set of fog lights on eBay for $50, is this a good price?

Message: You cut the holes out with a 4" hole saw, the rest of the questions I do not know since I installed the factory kit

Message: Bobby, when you installed the factory kit, did you have to replace the dashboard switch? I've installed a factory kit recently and havent gotten them to work yet. Thanks

Message: Mike,
If you already had the factory wiring, you have to replace the factory switch with one that has the FOGLIGHT position; they're different from one from a non foglight switch.
If you installed the wiring loom that came in the kit, it should have a separate switch that you install.

Message: I already had the wiring. I just installed a set of factory fog lights and a new lower facia. I guess I'll be ordering that switch this week.

Message: You could have just used a 4" hole saw and cut your facia.
That switch will run you about $60.00 from the dealer. If you want to get your fogs working and can live with just a plain SPST rocker on your dash, just find the black wire with the orange trace coming off the headlight switch and the white wire with the violet trace coming off C3 on the CTM and run you switch between the 2 of them. That way you can have your fogs on anytime you feel like it.

Message: I did not have the wiring, the switch that comes with the kit requires you to drill a hole in the dash adjacent to the headlight switch,
Bob

Message: If you have a 2WD consider the pocket where the T case switch lives on the 4WD. I've put a few there.

Message: Tabor, not sure what the C3 and CTM are. No worries though I'm going to get the stock switch. I'd like to keep the truck looking as factory as possible.

Message: If you pull the left kick panel off (pull back edge toward driver seat, you will uncover the CTM or central timer module. C3 is the third connector. There are onlt 3.

Message: I got the new switch today. Is it just plug and play or do I have to re-wire some things?
