What is the horsepower for a 98 dakota v6 3.9L stock? mine isnt stock anymore, but i just want some idea of how much horses i am pushing. how much more does a K&N air filter give. i also have flowmaster exhaust. does that give any extra horses? if so how much? the flowmasters sound great on the 98 Dakota v6 3.9L. I am disappointed in my trucks acceleration though. i did smoke a toyota tacoma 4x4 the other day on the road, that isnt surprising though. any questions about my truck, let me know.

175 hp stock...can't give figures on the other mods but they will open the truck up.

i just got an email from k&n, they claim 2-4% hp increase for the filters and 8-10% increase for the cold air intakes.

Done a few mods on my 98 3.9,gotta tell ya I have nothing but dissapointment with them.. I did the IAT mod, built a custom metal housing for it outa 4 inch pipe$30.00,put on a TB from a 97 360 $85.00, Performance wires+Plugs $80.00, Doubleroller Timing gear set $700.00 for dealer install,Airraid coldair intake$160.00,High flo cat+Flowmaster 50s series with duel outlet+tips $600.00.Superchips microtuner,$400.00 wich the company ripped me on since I sent it back 2 times without it working.. then was denied a refund. Even with all these mods.. I cant do 100mph on a level surface.. Granted Its an extended cab 4x4 with Auto Tranny/od.. wich is also just rebuilt..$1,400,included new harnesses, its just not worth the time and effort put into it. I keep thinking.. I shoulda had a v8 ;).

my almost bone stock 3.9 with only an aftermarket muffler will go much more then 100 mph. dude you really got sumtin wrong.

Well my bone stock 03 Quad cab can get up to 100. With no mods and the tailgate up! It just took a little bit, and I was on a flat surface to. I have done that twice.

I couldnt imagine whats wrong with it.. Runs like a charm..although the oil mysteriously dissapears.. no smoke.. no exteral leaking evident. Its faster than my Neon on the getgo.. I suppose the speedo could be giving a false reading, but the thing passed emmisions not that long ago and has no check engine light on..no fault codes in the memory. Toasted another earlyer modeled Dakota today at a stoplight.. he had a 3.9 + manual tranny, but the 125hp one.. shortbed and standard cab, so I know Im making better HP..even with a weight dissadvantage. Ya got me on it 2..Maybe its the 31 inch tires Im running.. nc =/.

I bought my 93 3.9 used and the day after I got it I pegged it on the interstate. It was bone stock, and also an extended cab. I'm not sure what speed the rev limited kicks in at on the newer daks, but that sounds like it. Now I have a K & N, and a 40 series Flowmaster. Not a big gain in power that I could tell, but it really helped the throttle response.

have you corrected your speedo for those tires? you could be hitting the speed limiter. the OEM tire size that came on the truck determines what they set the speed limiter at the factory. i've read on here anywhere from 95 to 118.

Hmm..Well if it was set @95mph that would be about right.. however I can do well over 100mph downhill. Other vehicles Ive owned make it real obvious when the limiter kicks in, they act as if the throttle is stomped on then released. I guess Ill have another vehicle get behind me and see what their speedo says =), Ill post the result asap.

175 is right, my new 2000 dakota will do 100 without too much problems, I have a flowmaster, and a cold-air intake. It runs about 200 RPM's lower @ 60 then it did before the mods. At 1 o'clock one morning in Arkansas I had my old 94 model up to 110, and that is all the faster I wanted to go, but I still had plenty of tachometer left.
