Subject: V6 Idle IP: Logged
Message: My 90 V6 5SP Dak has developed a high idle when warm. After shifing out of gear it revs really high( No tach, I'd guess at least 1500 RPM). Any one know the cause of this? It just started in the last week or so and is starting to get annoying. I hope it's just a sensor....

Message: Check your TPS it could be not returing to low
volts .35 to .75
center wire and ground and a good voltmeter.
That's what happend to my origanal after I moded
it about 5000 miles later. high idle
$29 at auto zone made by wells a good part
mine right out of the box red .72
Anyone who wants to check things on there own
trucks should invest in one $30 to $40
With a good digital you can test and meter almost
every sensor on the truck.

Message: make darn sure you get a digital, analog multimeters will fry components all day long. Also, you can get a pretty good one for like $25 at Radioshack, where I picked mine up.

Message: Yes, there is an external idle selinoid to control
the idle you will see it right on the linkage
It will idle high when cold and retract to slow
idle when warm. sounds like its not working right
Also check for a vacume leak. cracked or dry
rotted hose, the best way to find a vacume leak
if you do not see anything obvious is to get some
starting fluid and spray around all the vacume
lines and manifold to head gaskit.
It will either make it rev more or slow it down.
this will alow you to pinpoint a leak very easy
