Hey guys major road vibrations and shaking here.I have spent about $400 and the last month trying to figure out whats wrong with my Dakota. I went in for an alignment and the mechanic showed me my specs.. Here they are for the rear, the fronts in spec.

Rear:Left
Camber 0.0
Toe *0.47*

Rear:Right
Camber -0.1
Toe 0.01

Cross Camber 0.1
Total Toe 0.48
Thrust Angle 0.23
Axle Offset 0.24

**notice the left rear TOE***
OK so what kinda shop can align the rear of a dakota and is it possible or do i need a new axle?? I dont really know how the rear tires toe is aligned. The mechanic told me that had to stretch or bend the toe in place??? Any help please let me know.

by the way its a
2000 2wd v6 RC
no lifts or drops

What they would normally do is loosen the mounting bolts and use a pry bar or a come-a-long to try and pull the axle into position then retighten the bolts. That will get the thrust angle near zero and proably give you .24 on each side for toe.

With the rear specs as they are you steering whel is probably offcenter, but i'm not sure that it would cause shaking and vibration.

I called dodge they said specs are way off.. sounds like the trucks been hit. Im guessing it could have been wrecked before i bought it 2 years ago with 7000 miles, im gonna do a car fax and see whats up the dealer will get some major crap from me if it turns out to be wrecked.. if not im thinking the tire shop might have dropped it off the lift or maybe that small incline in the road i jumped a couple a months ago could be culprit. And smarterthanu your such a dummy the specs are off Im not a genius but i know that the toe should be the same on a cars axel's.
By the way it shimmys left to right more than it viberates. And yes the steering is uncentered.

If it shimmy's something could be physically bent. Are your tires wearing evenly?

As far as i can tell the tires are wearing ok but i rotate every 3000 miles and the tires are YOKOHOMA 30 x 9.5 +2 geolanders extremally hard rubber. Now i had a set of goodyear eagles and the belt busted on the rear left tire same as where the alignment is off. Those tires were soft and im thinkin that the hard rubber on the yokos are making me feel the vibs more.

Whatcha think

Here's a little visual trick. Have someone follow you and see if the rearend is tracking straight. If one of the pins that holds the springs in place is sheared, it will appear as if the rear of the truck is pointed either to the left or right.
