Subject: little help please 1/4 mile IP: Logged
Message: ok, i am going to the track tonight , first time this year (been a busy summer) any way last year my best time was 16.9 w/intake & exhaust.
This year i have jet stage 2
iat relocated
removed rubber flappage
180 hypertech stat
autolite 3923s
v8 tb, (installed today)
So i was wondering if you have some tips, i read somewhere here about the burn out technique,,,not too long and test traction before you stage?? or something like that. I also own a shop and have some NOS race formula boost in stock, should i use it or just bring to sell to rice burners.??
how much gas should i have ??
any suggestions would be great,
thanx

Message: I have almost the same exact mods, but more and I went slower than I did stock because of traction, so don't expect any huge gains. I'd say it should be good for a 16.6 or so.
I'd drop the tire pressure lower for better traction, it seems to help a little. Other than that, I don't really have any tips other than just give it hell when it turns green. I tried octane boost the first time I went to the track, and I still haven't been able to beat those times, so go figure on that one. It's worth a shot.

Message: do you really expect to do significant "burnouts" with a V6 and so few mods? the only really effective ones you have are the bigger TB and the chip and together you still maybe at best have 200 HP at top end.

Message: you can burnout in damn near anything my buddies 4 banger will do them. anyways best for me has been a 15.4 at like 86mph airaid intake, flowmaster 40 series, v-8 tb, asp crank pully, 8mm jba wires, 3.92 gears with a traclok, comp cam, 180 tstat, 1.6 rrs, superchip tuner and MT ET drag slicks. thats in a 2000 with 20's on the front. puttin a supercharger on it later this month...... also a guy floating around who has all the same mods plus a ported intake a larger tb, and bigger valves. his is a gen2 so its touch lighter and hes runnin 15 flats all motor (13s with the 150 shot)
hope this helps
