 Subject: Engine Went BOOM !

Alright, maybe some of you will remember my little oil pressure problem from before.
Well it started to happen again and this time instead of the pressure staying at the low mark it decided to hit 0 and then the engine went boom.
Well now I don't know what to do.
I've come up with 3 options:
1) Rip the engine apart for fun and junk the whole truck.
2) Try to sell it as is.
3) Try and find a decent/cheap shortblock and fix the engine.
What do you guys think I should do ?

Judging from your pictures the truck needs a second chance. Buy a short block and oil pan and get it back on the trail again.

That's what I was thinking.
The truck is just in too good of shape to just junk it, so that means either selling it or just replacing / rebuilding the engine.

Fix it, try here. Remember to search for a 2000 model if you want a low milage engine, they can be installed by transfering some of your old parts.

I have a 93 that looks like yours. (paint peeling and all!) It won't be worth much junked, so I'd fix it.

That brings up another question:
What year shortblocks would fit with minimal modifacations ?
That site didn't seem to show any engines for MA, RI, or NH. :(
The paint chipped only because the truck sat for about 9 months.

Unless someone knows something different, 1992 to 2003 should interchange. You need to transfer your intake manifold (e.g.r.), valve covers (crankcase vent), and exhaust manifolds to make a replacement long block work.

Heh, thanks.
I took about 15 pictures and those are the only ones that came out ok.
Seems you can't get too close with the camera or the auto-focus won't work right.
Oh well ...

1987-1996 will work,using your heads,intake etc.
i put a 88 3.9 in a 92 dak using the heads,intake,
valve covers etc,,,worked just fine,,,did this two yrs ago my son is still driving it.
if your interested i have a 89 3.9 with 98k miles
runs good,its out,bought it for a project,sold the truck dont need.can deliver to nashua,NH
