Just in case anyone is interested, Sam from SoCal Dakota is offering the Crower 1.7 ratio roller rockers (standard kit for the 3.9) for an incredible $305 shipped. The deal is that he needs at least 5 orders (really 4 orders, because I already jumped on this one) to make this work. This is (by far) the best price I've seen for these! (Sam's normal low price for the standard 1.7 kit for the 3.9 is $350 shipped.)

Do you only need the kit and tools to do this job? Does the kit come with everything I need for my 02 3.9L? Or do you need modified valve covers and springs?

You'll need to bang down the baffles in the valve covers to make room for the rockers. Alternatively, Sam has mentioned that he has modified covers for sale. I think he gets about $100 (plus your old covers) for the pair.
Otherwise, all you need is the kit, loc-tite and your tools to do the job. If you plan to "modify" the covers yourself (which I plan on doing), you'll need a hammer and a block of wood. Obviously, I haven't done this before, but from what I've read on this board, the whole thing should only take a few hours.

Oh, you shouldn't need new springs if you go with the standard kit. I think that you might need to though if you opt for the rev kit (which also comes with guide plates and longer pushrods).

i just finished a 5inch susp. lift on my 87 2wd dakota and just mounted a set of 35x16r15 boggers out back and 35x10.5r15 boggers up front. Im going to swap out the rearend for a 9inch w/ 4.88 gears and a detroit locker but id like to get some more power out of my 3.9L v6 w/ the holley 2280 2bbl carb. Do yall know anyone who makes any performance parts? (like headers,intake manifolds,and etc.)
