Just wondering here... I recently "discovered" a way to get some modest acceleration in my v6 Quad Cab... Basically it involves mashing the pedal down 'til it downshifts. Sometimes it shifts really hard, but it gets the job done... It's a little more peppy now. Especially in the 15-35 MPH range where it doesn't want to downshift for that extra horsepower, it helps a lot.

Anyway, my question is this: Will I shorten engine life by regularly getting the RPMs up to the 4500-5000 range? I know the 3.9l 6 cyl is supposed to get max horsepower at 4300 RPM... But it sounds like you're gonna put some pistons through the hood when it winds up that far. I want to keep this truck for at least 6 years, and am considering a supercharger when the warranty is up...

Or, should I just save my pennies and get a v8 model next year? ; )

Thanks in advance,
jim

I bought my RC Dak 3.9 from a junkyard with a great body and fried engine, put a junkyard [suposedly 16 thou miles] 3.9 in her and have been drivin it in the red ever since. only problem I have encountered is a noisy [what the dealer says] timing chain, sounds like lifters to me but it dont matter I keep pushin her hard and she keeps takin it!!

94 RC SB Ported V8 TB, modified intake, home made ram air, Flowmaster 3" in and 2-2.5" out to Cuda tips and a worn hole in the carpent where the gas pedal stops!!
