Frank, when you change the clutch have the flywheel resurfaced, most likely that's causing the chatter when first trying to take off. Some one may have changed the clutch and trying to save money didn't have the flywheel surfaced. I knew a guy when I was in high school and he put a new clutch in a ford pick up and was shocked that it chattered, we pulled the cltuch and flywheel the next weekend and had the flywheel surfaced and it was like a new truck. He did however also replace the pressure plate when he did the new clutch in the first place, so we just sanded the pressure plate made sure everything was clean and it worked great after that.
Good Luck
