Message: I've beat my head against the wall on this one and it still hasn't helped.
My 99 V-6 fog lights don't work.
The fog lights have never worked since I got the truck. It had a fender bender before I bought it.
The lights do work when I supply power and ground.
But here's the kicker, the two wires on both lights have 12 volts of power all the time, even with the keys out.
It doesn't blow fuses my battery never goes dead. Everything else on the truck is fine.
I've looked over the wiring harness looking for damage, and everything looks good.
I'm also not sure how to check the switch because the manual doesn't show the switch I have.
If I knew where the ground wires went to make ground, I would go there and see what the problem was.
To top it off My Haynes manual is lacking a good wiring diagram, for the fog lights.
I can almost always figure out electrical problems given enough time, but this one has me stumped.
So if your any good at electrical trouble shooting, I'd like to hear from you.

Message: If you have 12 volts on both wires then you do not have a ground, on factory fog lights there is a constant 12 volts to the lights even with the key off and the ground is switched by the headlight/fog light switch

Message: Is there a seporate switch on the 99 or do they
come on with the park lights.
All they are doing is completing the ground side
it could be the switch but I would first follow
the wire back and see if it was damaged from the
fender bender
Check the connection there should be a plug
up near the Radiator saddle for those lights

Message: There's no separate switch, it's part of the headlight switch.
I'll go back over the wiring tonight. It's kinda hard to check when it's inside of the protective sheild.
You have to know where the wires enter and exits the shielding to really know what your doing.
If I can't find any problems how would I test the switch, or rather what termanils would I test.
My Haynes manual only shows the switch that's separate.
Thanks for your help.
