Subject: A500 Tranny, Spline and Bearing IP: Logged
Message: I was involved in an accident and had my motor and tranny slide forward enough 3-5 inches. My driveshaft hung down for a week, and didnt screw up the spline almost at all... little file work on the edge of 5 teeth and its all good. Now all i need to know is if anyone knows wether or not i have to replace that rear bearing just back from the seal. the bearing is 40$ and the truck is virtually fixed already, i just need to reinstall the driveshaft... will it be ok, or am i going to have to mess with pulling down the tranny crossmember and mount, and remove the extension housing?
it may be kind of a dumb question but i need to find out so i dont make a stupid mistake...

Message: I would take a good light and visually check the
bushing,
Put the shaft in and be sure it rotates free in
neutral and be sure there is not an excessive amount
of play.
I would replace the seal right away because it
will probably leak
If it starts to make any noise than I would
replace it
