Subject: K&N air intake

Message:
I have a 93' 3.9 and i am gonna get the K&N air intake w/ filer. Ive heard that since it sits under the hood where it can get hot and not like the stock filter where the tube is led down near the grill to pull in some cold air from out of the truck that the intake will get hot and there fore decrease the maximum performance of it?? So what are some suggestions for this? I heard that u can pull the flap off the front of the grill to alow more cold air to enter the engine. Has anyone done this and how well does it work? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Heres a website for you to check out.
I'm getting ready to go to Auto Zone and buy the air cleaner assy. I'm going to use the air filter that comes with it, and when it gets dirty I'll buy a K&N filter.
Auto Zones cost $19.95

The FIPK K&N for the 93 is just a 14X3 round air
filter that comes with the recharger kit and a
gasket for the top of the TB.

It will flow better than stock.

You can pull the plastic tube mount off the radiator
saddle and take a big screw driver and knock the
plastic flap off that is in front of it than stick the
tube mount back on and it will direct the air up
towards the filter. It will also drop your under hood
temps.

You can also get a K&N set up for a newer truck
that puts the cone filter down by the front of the inner
fender well but you would need to get an air hat
from a newer truck from the bone yard to hook it
up.

Or if you don't want to spend much money just
remove that plastic shield use all the stock
stuff with a K&N drop in replacement filter.

Than when your ready to get a bigger TB you
will have a cold air set up and will notice the
bigger TB more.
