Subject: 04 Dak base engine is 3.7 IP: Logged
Message: Well according to Dodge.com the 3.9 has been replaced with the 3.7 V6. We all knew that . One thing I did find interesting was that the MSRPs are up quite a bit,for a SXT like My 03 (about 1000 bucks). Everything else looks about the same as 03 except no R/T listed

Message: What they are is the 4.7 with 2 less cyl's, I have
driven a few 4.7's and I thought they were a nice
running little V8 not bad at all
They also have over head cams, I think they are
dalmer engines they sure are not any origanal
mopar motor like the 3.9 which was just a 318
with 2 less cyl's

Message: I have driven the 3.7 in the Liberty a bit and it does pretty well. The similarities between it and my 3.9 are few and far between though. I don't know how much the Jeep weighs but even though it is an OHC engine it still had quite a bit of jump off of the line, but as Larry said it really seems more of a car engine. It doesn't seem like that bad of an engine but we'll have to see how it does in the Dakota.
