Message: You're not going to get much HP out of it unless you compliment it with other mods. If you have $400, get a good intake (K&N or Intense Perf.). Then get a good muffler, say a Flowmaster 50 series or a Dynomax Superturbo.
I don't know what size pipes your '98 is, but if they're 2.5", you don't need a cat back, just replace the muffler. Don't get 3" pipes unless you are HEAVILY modified!!!
A lot of people like the Flowmaster 50's because they are loud and give a decent rumble to the v6'r. I personally have the Dynomax because it still rumbles, but is much more quiet.
All that should cost no more than $250-300 installed.

Message: if your goin for tone get the flowmaster but if you want any performence out of the muffler stay clear of the flowmaster. i like the way my hooker sounds and it flows about 4 times better then a flowmaster. put a v8 tb on ur truck along with the cold air and it will go some what better...v8 tb =one of the best mods
