Message: you can get them at your local auto parts store, ie - Autozone, O'reilly's etc. don't forget the gasket, a little rtv and extra antifreeze. took me about 1.5 hrs to do it right. make sure you clean all the old gskt off or it'll leak for sure.

Message: Don't get the cheap one from autozone they open
at around 165. around $5
Here is the carquest # we use they are made by
stant
30208 stant 180, I test all the thermos before I
install them to be sure they open at the right
temp.
You can use a meat thermo and a pan of water on
your stove. I have gotten some that opened 2 soon
and ended up doing the job twice when they ran
cold

the $5 heavy duty one not the $2 el-cheepo
Gates is also made by stant now and some Autozones
may still have the robert shaw 180 on the shelf
out in the store they do not list them for the Daks
GT755-180 is the shaw # for the Daks they are
around $10

Message: Its a good idea to use a new gaskit just be sure
you have the surfaces clean.
When you go to put the bolts back in if you don't
have the nagnetic insert to hold the bolt in the
socket just use a piece of tape or paper and jam
the bolt in the socket, with an extension get them
started than just wiggle the socket off and
tighten them.
Snug them both down and than go back and tighten them
They are somewhat of a pain, if you drop one of
the bolts down by the goose neck there a *itch
to find them.

If I test it and it opens @ 180 would you use it or just chuck it and spend the $10.00 on the Stant?
