Message: ok guys i just put some yokohoma geolander +3 size tires on my 00 3.9 Rc sport. My old goodyear eagleswere dead. Anywayz heres the issue I dont know if its the tires, brakes, rims or a bushing or somthin but I get a terrible vibration at 55-65 now this vibration shakes the steering wheel side to side enough to see it shaking frantically. The vib is also felt threw the accelerator and in the seat. But somtimes it softens so to say --its not as bad but still there. I have had the tires balanced 4 times sense there mounting and checked to be outa round... two diff tire shops have balanced them and at the last one i watched them get them to 0.0. Im taking it in tommorow to my dads friends shop and gonna cut class to see what they say. Cause the service manager at the last shop (ex-army a$$hole) seems to think I need a alignment(it drives striaght no straying) or my carrier barring is messed up(its a one piece drivshaft no carrier barring right??) OK so i jack up the back end and put in in drive and the drivshaft looks fine to my eye no shaking or unbalanced like motions. Are the tires bad?? i hope to find out tommorow.. U joints seem ok? wheel barrings?? Hell im so lost i know this is very long but its also a PITA. One more thing the last two days its been really bad then tonight it like phased out to just feeling outa balance not like the steering wheels gonna pop out!!! it even felt bad at 30mph in the seat when it was really bad yesterday.
AGian i appologize for length
ANd I hope for a easy solution(yea right!)
THANx in Advance

Message: When they balanced the tires they would have
noticed bad run out.
It sounds like you have some lose frontend parts
ball joints tie rod ends check them and get it
lined.

Message: sounds to me like its your brakes. Most autoparts store rotate rotors for free so thats a good place to start.. and it never hurts to buy new brake pads.

Message: Brakes? He is driving down the freeway and it shakes. I agree with J&J that there could be some bad frontend parts. Get it check soon. Good Luck.

Message: well i know that Larry is a big influence on everyone here. But i am just giving my opinion. I guess you dont realize it, but, even if you are not hitting your brakes, warped rotors can cause the front suspension to shimmy around. The biggest sign is through the steering wheel.

Message: ok i got all both the front and back brakes turned. Turns out the back drums were egg-shaped.. so this was part of the problem.
Ok the vibrations are not completly gone i have never had it aligned but it doesnt weave off the road like the alignment is off. Now the vibs just kick in at 60 in the floor board and the steering wheel u can see the shake not only feel it. My dad and the mechanic said the tires have really hard side walls... Now I expect more feeling from the road but shaking! NO.. OK so tommorow im gonna check and adjust the air pressure to 35 psi thats what the door sticker says is this a good idea? maybe it will help some of the vibes. My friend said run them all at 32psi??? whats best. And where the heck can I go to get this vibration checked Im so confused.
Thanx for advice every1

Message: interesting......
Read the sidewalls of the tires and inflate to manufacture recommended pressure.
I'm not familiar with Yokohama Geolander +3. Is this an aggressive mud tire?
Whenever you have the front tires off make sure your brake disc's are seated properly. I had this problem with my Jeep. I did a front brake job and a small pebble fell in behind the Disc & mounting surface. Thought I was gonna loose body panels it shook so hard~!
Also check your front Shocks/Struts I have seen them come loose on Chevy trucks causing major bad vibes
Other than that I would have to shake/rattle & pull on it myself.
Good luck

Message: I had 285/70r17's on my Dakota and had the same problem
One thing I did that helped was like u said lower the pressure I
had load E so lower it to like 32 Asa start if it rides nice in the
morning when it's cold then shakes in mid day when hotter
lower some more that's what I did and worked well. But just
keep in mind lower the pressure the worse ur gas mpg will get
I was at 9-10mpg
The other thing is if u have after market wheels and they r no
centric get centric rings from amazon. (U need to measure in
mm)
And all shaking went away. Cheap too. :)
