Message: My check engine light came on so I went down to A Zone and got a free OBD II check. It came back as Catalytic converter not effective or something like that.I then crawled under the truck and discovered the c.c. has been gutted.Apparently this is causing the computer to throw a code.Is there any way to keep the light off or am I gonna buy a new converter?
99 SLT, 3.9 V-6 ,Bone stock for now.

Message: With a gutted cat you will get the code every so
often,
Just egnore it, it does not put the computer into
a limp mode and will not effect how your truck
runs.
Have you replaced your O2 sensor latly and how
many miles are on the truck.
Or you have 2 choces either replace the cat or
get a O2 simulator from KRC or the fastman also
sells them

get the O2 simulator or replace the O2 sensors. Probably gonna run you about $200 either way.
You thought your Dak was bone stock :) Might try to find the previous owner and find out if he had any other "surprise" mod's.
Good Luck,
Shank
