Subject: OIL dipstick stained brown IP: Logged
Message: Bought a dakota from a dealer and noticed the dipstick was brown. Is it possible that at one time the oil had not been changed for a while.

Message: i think that might be a over heating of the motor at one time or the other, stain caused by burnt oil possibly. if its and old truck, could just be a time stain, or the preowner never changed the oil, or all the above.if it runs good i wouldnt worry, just change oil every 3 g's.

Message: Have the same thing on my '01 with about 40k miles. Noticed it around 6k miles - assuming just a heat issue.
