Subject: HELP with MY TRUCK!!!!!!!! IP: Logged
Message: Hello all:
My problems coming from a 00 rc 3.9 with 44k
Lately that when in overdrive my truck lags like hell its like it barely moves rpm's when i accelerate. This seems to be getting worse. I cant even gain speed enough to pass another vehicale without downshifting to 4th gear. I changed the plugs at 35k and oil every 3-4k and I just put in a new air filter! I havent changed distributer cap, rotor button, or wires. Is this part of the problem? I just get so frustated when i cant accelerate without downshifting... Also I need to flush my tranny but i was gonning wait until i have more cash so that I can get a transgo shift kit to help this problem. But perhaps my bands are loose or somthing? The transmission or the bands have never been serviced! Please help me out here i dont know what to do.
Thanx in advance
Jeb
ps (no mods yet just some bigger tires and a glasspack)

Your 1st problem is you don't have a 5 spd auto its a 4 spd.
Your 2nd is the tranny should have been serviced at 30k

Message: You also went to bigger tires. This makes for a "taller" over all gear ratio which, for a 3.9 V6, makes it harder to accelerate in overdrive.

Message: could be a bad sensor, pluged cat, I don't think
its your trans if the motor is not reving intill
you step on it.
You need to find someone with a scan tool or a
dealer to monotor your sensors and see whats
going on.
What you are describing is a loss of power

Message: i did the power on power off x 3 system test..
All i get is Pdone and no check engine light flashes, maybe im over exagerating the power loss but when in overdrive at 60 mph my truck sux really bad. its like its chokign out. doesnt do so bad at 70mph and from 1st to 3rd it hauls ass at high rpm.. but when i hit 4th its crap until i get to 65 or so then it picks up a bit.. Is that symtoms of a sensor going out?

Message: Let's try this again, what size are these "bigger tires" as they can cause this if you went to a tire that is quite a bit larger than stock.

Message: Jebz, what you are describing sounds to me like typical 3.9 Dodge V6 behavior. I had an '02 Sport + V6...hence the name...and it did OK until OD kicked in, then it was like someone lassoed it and tied it to a fencepost. This was with the stock tires and 3.55 gears. Going up the slightest incline at anything under 60mph in OD would cause an immediate downshift, sometimes 2 or 3. Going up an onramp, it'd downshift at least twice if I didn't keep my foot in it. This was even after I'd installed an F&B TB, Intense intake, headers, and Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, none of which made any freaking difference, whatsoever, by the way. I had 1.7 rockers ready to go on but decided it'd be like beating a dead horse, and sold them. If you've got 1" bigger tires, it probably does make an already bad situation even worse. That's just kind of the way it is with V6's...
