 Subject: K&N air filter and intake

I was debuting wether or not to switch to a K&N intake and get rid of my stock filter and intake. From you guys that have one is there a big difference in one than the stock and how is it noticed as far as throttle response. Some input on this would be greatly appreciated.

93 Dakota....
I would also like to put in a K&N system that will enhance my 96dakota. It seems like 96 is a forgotten year.......everytime i look for something for my 96....it doesn't exist.
I like the looks of the 14x3 open filter, but then it has no cold air intake.Also there is no rubber flap near the grill....there seems to be a plastic piece there that blocks the air intake.
Can anyone provide input for his 93, or my 96 Dakota.

I have the FIPK for the 1992-1996 Gen 2 not the FIPK 2 its just an 14 inch air cleaner and I love it plus I have the Extreme Air Lid for it I noticed a slight increase in throttle responces and about 2mpg increase. So I think it was worth the money I got mine from www.truckperformance.com

Is the "extreme air lid" different than the one shown in the link ?? If so, do you have a link for it ?
This would be an open filter with no duct for outside air?

You can get one for a newer truck and an air hat
from a bone yard and with a little modding bolt
it right on.
All the TB's have the same 4 1/2 dia.
You will notice a small increase in throttle
response and better gas milage with a cold air
intake set up.
And pull the old air tube off the grill and remove
the flap that blocks it off to let more air enter
under the hood.
