Subject: Engine miss on excelleration IP: Logged
Message: I have a high milage 88. excelleration when cold is fine, but after getting to operating temp and on hot days, the engine will start to miss on excelleration and loose power. I have to back off and gradually come back up to speed.

Message: I would first check plugs, cap & rotor and wire's
carbon track on dist cap will also do that.
it will look like a small peice of hair stuck
to the cap.
posible bad dist shaft bushing wobleing messing
with the pick up.
You should also check the fuel presure 13 to 15
pounds with a throttle body injection. the pump
may not be puting out enough presure for the
system
A bad sensor telling the computer to lean out the
engine becase its hot. starving the fuel

Message: I had a similar problem a few years back with my 94 3.9 DAK. It turned out to be my ignition coil going bad. It would randomly stumble but primarily on acceleration. If you have a multimeter, the Haynes manual gives you the resistance measurements to check on the coil.
