i'm new to this site so bear with me. i've been throwing around the idea of swapping out transmissions. i've got a '99 reg. cab V6 5speed. when i bought the truck i was thinking gas mileage, but now i really don't care, and i am sick of grabbing gears. i've had 5speed trucks since i was 16, and i am ready for an auto now, but like me truck too much to trade on an auto, plus just put about 2 grand in a lift with tires and wheels. has anyone done a swap or have any idea what it entails. any info would really help. also i am getting ready to swap out the 3.55 gears for some 4.10's.

how many miles you got on the tranny? mine has got 38,400. i live in illinois. do you kwon if they mount up the same way on the cross member or if it has to be modified. also mine is a 4x4 so the transfer case would have something to do with it.

i just hit 44,000 on mine...it should mount the same...but don't quote me...i'm sure dodge didn't go to the expense of needing different mounts...you might need a different length driveshaft, though...try asking bernd or cw about the mounts.
