My 96 almost always makes a brake noise(squeal) right after starting. It last for a few minutes, then the noise is gone.
The brake fluid is OK. The brakes are not grabbing or pulling.
Any ideas???

Sounds like you are using organic brakes that swell with the moisture in the air after sitting overnight. Whenever you 1st take off, your rotors are slightly warped and until it creates heat and dries out the pads you will hear this chirping sound.
If this theory is true, It should quit if you lightly apply the brakes and then pick up again as soon as you let off until they warm up (approx 1/4 mile).

Thank you.
The noise seems to be coming from the front rotors. I'll call the mechanic and ask him what make of pads he installed......I bought the truck in Jan.
The noise does go away after driving a short distance, but it is very annoying. The noise started last month, so it is rather recent.

My 95 does the same thing if I let it sit for more
than a day they rust and make noise untill I use
them 2 or 3 times than its gone.
Mine are origanal with just over 86,000 on them
now, I am do for a brake job but I am holding off
untill next spring. My rotors have big groves in
them from all the mud and sand I get off road but
its sure fun.
We have a old ski resort in the area that is
closed down with some real nice hills, we go back
there once in a while to play on the hill's
Next time I go out there I will get some pics of
the hills they are long and steep about 8 to chose
from, I can make them all in my Dak without even
spinning uless there wet or have snow on them than
I will just nail it and blast up to the top.

OK.... I just talked to the mechanic. He said they are 'metalic' brakes not organic. The rotors were either turned or new.......he couldn't remember, although the checkoff said said they were new.
I noticed a groove in the rotor(driver's side) this morning, but there was no noise this morning when I started out. Could the groove be causing the noise and cutting into the pad?
