 Subject: Dak VS Conquest ?

I have a 94 V6 SB 2WD Auto slammed with a ported V8 TB, home made ram air, flowmaster single in 2 outlets and 3.55 open rear. My uncle has a almost stock Chrysler Conquest TSI auto [fish tank valve on the waste gate]. How do you think I will do in a 1/8 or 1/4 mile race with his car? If he beats my Dak Im pullin out my 73 340 Challenger!!!

he would spank you....start up the challenger now!
that valve alone allows him to change his boost at the twist of a finger....he can add as much as the head gasket will take.

Hey Intense, you think he could still take me if the valve was set to stock boost?
I've ridden in it and it dosent feel very fast, I mean not the kinda leave my Dak has but I know turbo cars can be diceptively fast.
Do you run NOS? and if so what brand? I've been lookin at the Nitro Express system, whats your thoughts on it if any?
Oh and thanks for bustin my bubble, I so thought I could take him, Im still going to race him Im just not puttin money on it now!!!

i have the nx kit...all i can say about it is...D@MN IT'S FUN!!!!! if it's set to stock...what...about 9# i don't know...does it have a intercooler and what year is it..
i had a shelby charger with a T1 and it was deceptive...every dang rustang thought he could take me! i even beat up on them when my computer voltage regulator was busted and it was pouring gas into the engine...about 10mpg on a four banger..ouch...but the cool thing is when i revved it...it would blow a flame out the side exit exhaust...i had no cat or muff!

i almost forgot about the StarQuests. depending on year it's most likely a mid-low 15second car (although i'm not sure how bad the slushbox effect was in the auto trannies). the 88tsi was the fastest of the conqueststhey upped the boost to 11psi and made 188hp out of that mitsu 2.6l. even with the bleeder valve however he can't boost much more than 15psi on the stock fuel system unless he enjoys melted pistons :).

yep. but 15# is 15#...forwardmotion,inc told me that a 1# boost increase is about a 10hp gain...if you need to know something about turbos...they know a lot!

oh, if he has an intercooler he can up the boost more than 15#. it's just a matter of how well he can cool the intake charge (dry ice helps)...by the way...if he knew how to add a valve to the waste gate actuator line then i am sure he can figure out that the earlier fuel pressure regulators you can put in a vise and smash them a little to raise the pressure to go with the boost increase...early adjustable fuel pressure regulators! he he he ; )

Damn guys, are we a Dak forum here or a StarQuest one?!!!!! lol
Seems like you guys know [or can find out] alot more about StarQuest's than Daks, like I said, I admit its a tough little car but it just dont feel like my Dak on take off thru midrange but it does feel strong after that.
Yes he does have the stock intercooler [as all TSI's had I think].
Intense, just for $hitS and grins, do you think he could take me if I had an NX system, 4.10 gears and locking diff.?

i have one of those (nx)...it does wonders....
no i don't know a lot about starq..whatever they are...this was the first time i have heard of one...do know how to tweak with a turbo though...use to own one and by god it was a dodge!

yeah, it's a general rule of thumb that 1 lb of boost is about 8-10 hp. i've dealt with Forward Motion before(i have a modded '89 Shelby Daytona TurboII), they're great guys.
good luck with the race Scott... but i still think you should just pull out the Challenger right now for kicks :)

I own an 88' Conquest with a stage 1 upgrade turbo (14g) running rougly 13 lbs of boost.. and it is sh*t to the fan fast... blew a V8 Ram out last weekend. he never touched me at all.... hey if anyone knows where I can go to a Conquest chat forum please let me know I need to find one ASAP

TSI guy, my uncle loves his Quest and he visits some chats on StarQuest very regularly.
His email is: rl4406@aol.com (he used to own a 440 6 pack Challenger hence the 4406).

Hi Scott I must say I've owned them both and by far the quest is the top dog...So if you going to bet money please understand you not just raceing the car your raceing a old timer and that knows old school....

Reading that "fastest v6" thread has me a little pumped up to see what she'll do this spring.
End of last summer I beat a Civic with a 1.8 GSR transplant with a fogger setup, said he runs high 8's in the 1/8th.

just remember its not how fast your car is it how well of a driver you are, this is sad for me to say but i have a 64 bradley gt. i was sitting at a stop light next to a dodge omni, well i tryed to show off with the car come to find out it was a turbo omni with a good driver, and yes i lost the race and my pride that day. good luck on the race. (not to be mean but i am going to have to rute for the under dog go starquest ) sorry. p.s. www.starquest.com good site
