Subject: Quad Cab Owners... IP: Logged
Message: okay, so I was out looking at a friends quad cab.
it's nice, I like Dakota's. but how functional is the size of the bed?
I have a 6 foot bed, and I'm wishing I got the 8 foot bed.
Any response to this would be nice.
my friend doesn't the bed for anything other then a bag or two of trash.
thanks.

Message: Well you can hal a 4X8 sheet of plywood without
having the taigate down with the 8' bed.
It would depend on what you plan on using the
truck for.
Mine I use just for fun so the short box was just
what I wanted and I can still hal junk when I need
to.

Message: I like mine, it fits just about as much stuff as a 6.5ft Ram bed. I can fit an ez-up tent, chairs, luggage for 4, a stroller, fold-up crib, and 3 BMX bikes. There is still room for other gear.
If your job is to carry 4x8s then ti would be a stretch, if you only haul 4x8's for stuff around your house it would be fine.

If you got a 6' bed and want an 8' bed, I don't think the short 5.25' bed of the quad cab would be very functional for you! I don't need a long bed, have a box in the back that makes it functionally even shorter, and I'm quite happy with mine.

Message: Remember, with the quad cab you can fit tons of
boxes\luggage in the cab with the seats up. I
drove to FL from NH with 5 suitcases in the
back seat (rain, no tonneau cover...).
As far as the size of the bed goes, I have hauled
14 sheets of 4'x8' .75" plywood in the back
w/tailgate down, between the wheels is only ~44"
I think, so the plywood would not lay flat. I also
put a 14' wooden boat back there with the outboard
and gear in the cab.
Anybody remember the commercial with the mulch
inside the quad cab when the quads first came out?
I loved that one.....too funny...

Message: I haul tons of stuff and haven't noticed the short bed yet. ei> two full size couches stacked, filled cab high with roofing material, two friges, countless 8'sheets of plywood and sheetrock, etc.
Keep in mind....It's a foot longer than the Tacoma and Frontier QC beds! I think the glass is half-full, not half-empty!
