Message: do cabs even have TBS sensors. I guess what I am asking is, how are you gonna run the fuel pump, or by pass all the crap in the tank on an 89?
Oh yea, and you have to use the computer anyways to get the stock fuel pump to work with the spark. If you can't turn on the fuel pump you don't get spark and if you don't get spark you don't get fuel.
It might be more viable to go with more compression for more power.

Message: Dont need to "bypass" anything.
Simply add a decent fuel pressure regulator and the TBI pump he has is a sweet pump for carb.
Set the psi to about 5, if you have starvation at high RPM's set it up to about 7 no, more...specially if you use a Holley.

Message: hey FazDak, an 88 has TB... now going to carb... ummm w/o the sensors working on the TB the fuel pump won't work correctly. And if the fuel pump does not get the codes to function you don't get spark.
You can use a resister for the mass most of the time, but you need the TPS sensor in order for the fuel pump to know the correct amount to pump.

went thru this on a 88 W-150 with 318. For wiring, use engine wiring harness off a 86-87 full size with a 360. Good luck finding one of those. It plugs right in to the bulkhead connector on my truck. 360 was carbed that year. Goodbye emissions junk
Fuel pump. There are a million ways to get around this. The blocks habe the mechanical pump boss still cast in. Get a pump eccnetric and go mechanical. Or rig the stock tank, wiring and hoses with aftermarket electric pump and regulator
As for ignition, hello Mopar Performance. The electronic ignition conversion kit they sell has instructions on how to convert a TBI truck to this kind of ignition.
As for charging, it just needs to be regulated. The 360 wiring harness has provisions for this. Even if not, you can go GM type alternator with internal regulator.
It can be done. and with junkyard parts

Message: or pick yourself up and 87 and go to town... I think it might be more cost effective.
