Subject: high pitch tone ???

Message:
I have a 2002 dakota sxt 3.9 club cab whcih H as been very strong running untill about 27k miles. I started having clunking and popping noises from shifting 1st-2nd and even neutral and reverse. Now I hear a high pitched tone like chimming on some cars when the door is open accept constant tone. When brake pedal is pressed on the tone pitch goes lower. It seems to be heard around the gas tank area though. Im not sure what it could be. Also.... when i took out my owners manual the binding broke and the pages fell everywhere, I though that was kinda strange but funny for some reason. Any help would but great !

Try looking into the fuel pump. It sounds like it may be starting to go bad. After 27k, that should not be the case. They are noisy to begin with even when new, but I would suggest checking that first.

Thanks ill have fuel pump checked out. how come the brake pedal being pressed changes the sound of the fuel pump. I also heard that the clucking and popping sound and lack of acceleration are due to bad motor mounts? If you look under while the truck is running in neutral you can see the whole driveshaft and bellhouse vibrating pretty bad. The sound coming from the bellhose sounds kinda like " the sound you here when having an extra key made at walmart, like a grinding cherp " any help or insight to if bad motor mounts are the cause would be great. thanks

Wow, that doesn't sound good at all. Definitely take it to a dealer and see what is up.
