Message: edelbrock makes a custom tubular header and y pipe system for dodge that is only about 250 bucks and then you could probably get a flowmaster exhaust system for another 300 so about 600 should do you from the headers back

Message: I have a 92 Dakota auto w/138k. I too love cheap mods. First go to intensedakota.com and there are some tricks and tips that are free. Thats a perfect place to start. I would then do these in order:
K&N filter ($35+)I paid $12 shipped from liberator861 on Ebay. It came dirty and borrowed my neighbor's cleaner which you can get for $10.
Flowmaster, turbo tubes, or dynamax ($50+) I traded my y pipe for a dynamax 1 in 2 out and have a turbo tube in place of my cat, sounds good.
V8 TB ($50-500) I paid $75 and got it from someone on this site, but you could check junkyards or mopar websites. Clean it and the IAC before installing w/gasket.
Synthetics, amsoil or redline, I use both and havent recorded mpg or power but notice smoother shifts and a smoother pull. I will go into further detail if you wish.
Good luck

Message: wg34, if checking junkyards look for a V8 Dakota or Ram of the same year as yours(Ive heard that will keep you from having to get a different TB cable, but Im not sure, for mine I didnt have to) I know a 318 will and maybe a 360 will work. You can explore previous posts and find out for sure.
Jay, i coulnt find anything so I used Bleech White. Use TB or carb cleaner. YOu should first remove the TB, then take the IAC out with torx or allen, and do not drop it or push the spring in. Simply take some cleaner on a rag and clean the end of it and your done. Ive never cleaned the TB cause dude cleaned mine when I bought it, but I suggest you clean it before install and use a gasket.
A new TB and cleaning the IAC made my idle much smoother, but I still have little power at start-up. A few guys recommended a new O2 sensor, but it's $60 I hear, so I may wait a while since Im broke.
