Subject: handling IP: Logged
Message: what can i do to keep the *end of my truck from trying to come around and meet the front end when encountering some minor bumps or potholes?
really scary sometimes @ 70mph.
'00 QC, 15x7 wheels, 215/75r15 tires, stock suspension.

Message: You've encountered the #1 handling problem with pickups. You have to remember that a p/u bed unloaded is pretty light, the manufacturer has to make strong enough springs to handle a load, even when there is no load there, so there is a major comprimise.
Now you can go lowering and softning the springs but then you scrifice some of your load handling capabilities.
Key is....figure out what you need outa your p/u and tune the suspension acordingly.
Let me tell you my secrect....slam it all to hell and put air shocks on it.....you get a nice low ride and if you do need to haul something fairly heavy (not to the p/u's load rating mind you) you simply put 80lbs or so air in the shocks.
That is a back woods remidy I know, but its cheap and it has worked for me and I dont even live in the backwoods!! :-D

Message: would changin tires to like 265/70's help possibly? more unsprung weight. i have had 3 other pickups (not dakotas, sorry) and none of them came close to doin anything like this.
