Subject: Check engine after exaust install...

Hey all,

I have a 97 Dak with a 3.9.

I recently installed a 3" high flow cat and 3" cat back to a dual 2.5" outlet muffler and pipes. I also installed new O2 sensors while I was in there.

The engine starts and runs OK, a little rough at times but I figured that was because of NO back pressure. :-D.

On occation I will get a check engine light when I start it and it will stay on for a while. It may stay on all day through multiple starts or only happen once and not do it on the second start.

This may have to do with the mixture possibly because of the new exaust and the o2 sensors reading different. But I am not an expert by any means on this OBD2 stuff.

Any help or advice would be appreciated since this is my daily driver now and I want to fix it before anything serious happens.

Thanks

Why don't you try a reset and let the computer
relearn from scratch.

after 2 or 300 miles they are tuned in.

A lot of these trucks get a light after an exh is
installed without a reset.

Just disconect your Neg batt cable go in the truck
and hold the key on start for about 30 seconds,
than turn the key off and hook the batt back up.
