Subject: Exhaust cut out? IP: Logged
Message: I've been toyin with the idea of an exhaust cut out, some of my firends have them (mind you everyone around me drives ls1/lt1's so they sound good), but I just wanted to know if anyone else had done this on a 3.9. They've been tested on the "ass-dyno" :) and seem to yield 10-15 rwhp. They also seem to have the best dollar-to-hp ratio seeing as it only costs like $20 for one. My only concern is it sounding crappy with a v6 so any imput/advice is appreciated thanks.

Message: an open exhaust on a na v6 will perform worse because na engines need some backpressure to work right. it will also run really rough if you do it before the cat...computer won't like that the O2's aren't getting a proper reading...also, when i put my headers on i decided to hear what it would sound like with open headers....i don't recommend it...

Message: Yup...unless the engine is built for higher RPM driving and has the HP/TQ to back it up, the cutouts on the V6 don't work very well. (But they do sound kinda cool.) ;)
