Message: Hello all,
We have a 1999 Dodge Dakota (2-wheel) and a problem seems to reared it's ugly head.
Over the past week, the car has had a rough start whenever we first start it. After that, the car operates completely fine. It could be first thing in the morning, the afternoon, or evening. Time of day doesn't seem to matter. Is there something I should look at first? I realize this is a bit vague.
In order to do a bit more diagnosis, I've been hunting around the internet trying to get the exact procedure for getting the computer error codes myself. Can someone also help me with that?

Message: As an add-on, no this is NOT the "revving up" that the Dakotas do. This is definitely a rough ignition. It sounds like it's not getting enough gas but I'm no pro.

Message: My 2000 does the same thing and has since I bought it used (runs rough and seems like it is missing in a cylinder). After the engine warms up it is fine, but it will run like crap for the first few seconds. I already replaced the ignition rotor, plugs, wires, and distributor but this did nothing. The ECM does not register any codes so I can only try to replace the O2 sensor and see. It is still under warrenty, but the damn dealership says nothing is wrong (dealers are worthless anyhow).
