Subject: Occasional Problem Shifting Into Reverse
IP: Logged

Message:
I seem to have a nasty problem with my 98 Sport, Manual Tranny. When I try to shift into reverse, it will act as though I don't have the clutch in. I wil let off the clutch and fully depress again and try to shift. This will sometimes take 2-3 tries before it will shift into reverse.

If I'm lucky after one of these fits, it will shift clean into reverse, but more often than not, this odd habit is followed by a grinding noise as I shift into reverse.

This has happened on inclines, flat surfaces, no movement, slight movement, parking brake on and off, so I know it can't be related to positioning/truck movement.

My local dealers have been no help as well as to why it is doing this.
