Message: My blower fan motor in my 2001 Dakota only works on the high setting all of a sudden. If it's set on the first three settings the fan doesn't blow and the A/C shuts off.
Do you think it's the switch in the dash or is it the blower motor itself (maybe a resistor)?

Message: Jer, I replied on a post concerning this same question somewhere else on this board, so I'll give you the same info. I never did it on my truck, so I'm only repeating what I've heard...if the fan motor only works on high speed, there's a good chance that the resistor stack is bad, or the connections to it. On an '01, I think I've heard that it might actually be located in the air vent plumbing, somewhere near the trans tunnel. The older Daks had it on the firewall, but the Gen 3's moved it inside, I think.
If your truck still has warranty left, it may take care of it.

Message: Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, the warranty is up on my truck. A mechanic friend of mine also mentioned the resistors. I'll do a little digging under the dash and see what I can find out with my meter.
