Subject: 180 thermo IP: Logged
Message: I changed my thermo from the stock 195 to a 180 on my '96. My temp gauge used to stay in the middle between cold and hot, now it stays just above the Cold mark.
I've been told that this is too cold and the engine will develop sludge in it. Is this true? I can only think that a cooler running engine is better.
Anyone know more about this?
Thanks Daveo.

Message: I dont see where the sludge would come from. Oil sludges when it overheats.

Message: The 180 won't cause any problems. If you live in a cooler climate you may not get the heat in the cab your used to. Its a simple job to swap out the thermostat to the 195 for winter.
