Subject: Oil pan gasket IP: Logged
Message: Well I got the cloyes timing chain installed last night but I tore the front of the oil pan gasket off when I removed the timing cover. I just got a new pan gasket but its all one piece!! ARGH!! now I have to drop the pan. Has anyone replace the pan gasket on a 97 4X4?? how much of a pain in the arse is it??

Message: VERY!, Disconnect the motor and lift it at least 6" to give you clearance over the front Diff.

Message: Yep, I took one close look at what it would take to drop the pan and said "fck that". I trimed the new front seal off of the new gasket and siliconed the edges, hopefully it wont leak.
