Message: K, About 6 months ago I blew the bearing out in the Planetary gear assembly in the tail section. Without tearing it apart I took a 42RE from a wrecked '95 & after $190 for a new driveshaft I was back on the road.....Sorta.
Without all the Elect connectors it lasted 4,000 miles before failure due to lack of lubrication.
I bought a wrecked '93 2WD A500 & took out the Planetary Gear Assembly and put my 4WD A500 back together. Minor Driveshaft shortening & I was back on the road....... I THOUGHT.
All 4X Components work properly, Reverse & 1st work great, but that is the end of it. I have tried adjusting the TV cable both directions (No Slack, Snug, Loose & Really Loose).
I can take off in 1st & run it up to redline, Goose It, Feather it & all I can accomplish is going into Neutral until I manually shift it back into 1st gear.
There are only 2 solenoids on the bottom assembly of the tranny, It was working just fine before, Why would it not now?
Any help greatly appreciated,
Shank

Message: K, the 2 solenoids are the Torque Converter lockup control and the OD Control. I swapped out the bottom assemblies & Re-Adjusted the bands. Looked everything over, re-assembled & tried again. Same problem.
I was told that I may have installed the govenor wrong and it won't let it shift........ Back to the shop.

Message: I'm having the same problem, but i had the first gear thing before i rebuilt it, and now i know the reasons the cluches got toasted was because it wouldn't come out of first. I know the governer isn't in wrong because i had the proble before i took the tranny apart and it was fine for years before it went. Let me know what you find out! Thanks

Message: checked the gov. Looks great, even had the dealer look at it. I'm almost certain that there is no dirt in anything. Check 3 time already! Is there a way to check the main modulator? I'm thinking the comp isn't doing what its suppost to. Would the speed senor do this? not sure if its bad but looks like it can be replaced.160k on it
