 Subject: F&B problems

Went to put a used F&B on my 00 V6 today, ran into a problem.
It was a used one someone had on a 92V6
The problem is when I went to put the stock plastic "hat" or whatever you call in back on to the top of the TB, it wouldnt sit flush all the waydown...on the stock TB there are grooves for it, on the F&B the lip goes all the way around the TB...so the only option I saw was to cut out the stock plastic piece....somthing I didnt feel like doing at the moment. Only took 15 mins to do the swap, so I can do it another time, no biggy..
Is there an aftermarket one that will work with the F&B?? are they all the same? ALl the sensors lined up fine, bolted up fine, just the hat didnt fit down all the way....ohh, and the I need a smaller Sbolt...no biggy.

you've got a TB for a egr engine "gen II" you need a TB for a gen III you will never get to work right

why wont it work right?
It bolted right up....started it up, ran fine,reved it....just the hat wouldnt fit right on....is there somthing majorly different between the 2 that would cause it to run improperly?

First off-- the airhat (stock) needs to be trimmed to fit the F&B-- it's described in the instructions if you had purchased it new. Cut the tabs out of your stock airhat, and it will fit.
Now, if the TB was on a 92, check the throttle bores-- F&B for those years include small holes (one hole in each tb bore)-- this is required for proper idling. Some have tried the older TB models on new 96 and up trucks and they have worked, other's haven't worked.
IF it works, and no error codes, you should be fine.

Thanks, I got the TB used, no instructions....and yes I did see the 2 holes in each bore...was wondering what they were for.

Wrong body for your 00 truck you will have idle
problems.
You need a non EGR unit for 96 and newer V6
92 to 95 had EGR 96 and newer no EGR
