The local muffler place told me that the 50 series delta flow was very restrictive and would not allow my truck to gain much HP, but he then went on to say that the 40 series delta flow was the best choice for performance ?

is this yahoo correct, or am i correct with going with the 50 series delta flow.

your local muffler man needs to find a new line of work...hopefully not as a salesman!! I don't know of a difference in flow between the 40 and 50 but i have been told that it is just the sound that is different. i have seen a flow chart for a flowmaster 40 series that actually pulled more air out of the engine than an engine with no exhaust...pretty cool, huh?

Bernd had dynoed several mufflers including the 50 series. Yes, it helps. I have one and it is great. The muffler guy must have had alot of extra 40 series mufflers to get rid of. The only difference is the one extra chamber. Pulls air from the engine too.

yes its true that the 40 pulls air from the engine. Ive added a 40 and a hooker high flo cat and it added 15 hp to my 94 dak. The 50 is good if you have more than 300 hp but go with the 40 and a high flo cat from hooker.

I have the 40 Series Delta Flow in a single 3" configuration on my 97 thats sounds pretty sweet.
Flows are just about the best I think.

I dont know exactly what series I have but its a Flowmaster for a full size chebby p/u, its got 3" inlet and 2-2.5" outlets. With custom bent duel pipes over the rear my truck sounds SO cool now.I couldnt tell if its any faster but it sure sounds faster.
