 Subject: engine light

This morning I went to put on a v8 throttle body on a 2003 v/6...Well after taking off(the v6) and finding out I could not drill out the(v8) plate to install a ball for the throttle cable, I reinstalled the v/6 throttle plate back on. My problem now is the engine light stays on.. How do I reset puter? Or how do I get light to go off?

Eddy,
You need to swap the cable for a V8 Dakota cable,
you can buy a new one for the same year Dak from
chrysler for around $25 change the cable and than
install the V8 body.
Check all your connections.
Look in your owners manual about disconecting the
battery and see what it says, I heard you cant
reset an 03 the same way but I don't know if it is
true. The next time I have an 03 here I am going
to try it and find out.
Let me know what it says, I will check out my 03
hemi truck book and see if I can find out for you.
Or I will be at the Chrysler dealer mon or tuesday
to pick up an 04 intrepide and I will ask the
service dept for you.
I do a lot off business with them and they will
tell me the truth not any farie tails.

Larry --thanks for the info. I remember you told someone else on another post about the 2003.I took a chance cause the light drove me nuts and disconnected neg batt term.Then held key in start about 20 sec. When connecting neg cable again the light was out. as for the cable, I took the v8 throttle body to the vise and used a dremmil to cut off both sides where the new cable would go. Then was able to drill out and install a carter carb throttle linkage ball to match the existing cable i had in the 2003.It worked out great but man is that piece on the body hard.I do believe it's hardened steel.Would have gotton the cable but was too anxious to to put v8 one on an did not want to wait till Monday. Thanks again

We have 4 trucks here
90 Dak V6
94 ram 1500 318
95 Dak V6
03 ram 1500 hemi
If you want to count the 85 4X4 and the 88
we have 6 all togather.
Also a 03 durango and am picking up a 04 intrepid
SE mon or tuesday.
So we actually have 7 Dodges in the family and
we love them all.
We also have 7 road runners sitting here so
I gues we have 14 mopars and around 30 parts
cars in our yard about 5 miles from here
Oh ya forgat the 69 super bee
So the crap the dealer gave this guy about
disconecting and reseting the computer was
bull
I thought so because if your batt ever went dead
you should not have to tow it to a dealer to
reset the computer.
Some of these dealers don't have a clue what they
are talking about, I don't even go to the local
dealer I drive 60 miles to mishagan to do my
business.

I'm with ya there.Can't get over ya got a super bee. Sort of giving my age away there huh? How is the new hemi? Out of just plain being nosy, the new hemi's are not like the day of the 60's are they? I hate being ignorant but I have been a mechanic for 40 years now but a marine mechanic and I work on all disels for 400,000 blow boats mostly and the few mopars I do(maybe 15 a year) are not equiped with any puter stuff at all.
Rest assured you can disconnect neg term and reset with key.

dude you got 7 roadrunners,i looked at a 68 rr he wanted 2200$ for shell,i think he is nuts,had one in high school,it cost me 300 bucks,383/4spd3.55 gear smoked out of left side pipe,i want it back,
