I'm getting 12/15 MPG on a '98 3.9l v6. The only things I've modified on Baby is a 6x9" K&N filter, Bosc Platinum +4 plugs, and I replaced the spinning boat anchor with a Black Magic Universal 150 electric fan (best thing I've done so far!). The mileage has not changed, but the engine runs cooler. It never gets above 185 degrees.
I'm thinking about getting an Airaid intake:

But before I can order it, I have to justify it to the "Chief Financial Officer" of the house (the wife). What kind of MPG improvement can I expect?
Is there anything else I can try to increase Baby's efficiency?

Maybe an exhaust, autolite plugs(which are a rave on here), wires maybe. Clean everything that looks dirty (intake, TB)

Get the intake, then submit a proposal to the chairman(wo) of the board for the autolites, and perhaps a tb. If you get these things slowly, you might as well add the muffler as suggested. I get roughly anywhere between 22 - 25 mpg's. I drive 216 miles round trip for work M-F, so mpg was the biggest seller to my ceo. Not to mention the HP gains, and buttdyno results are loved by all, including the chief.I think I have spent around 300 bucks or so. That includes V8 TB, Intense perf. intake, autolites, dynomax muffler.

'01 Sport Auto 3.9, CC, 3923s, Intense Cold Intake, Dynomax SuperTurbo 17748, Wal-Mart special roll on bedliner, MOOG upper and lower ball joints

Try a tonneau cover to reduce drag in the bed. First thing I did when I bought my 2000 Sport with 3.9 V6. Get 18 MPG in town with lots of stops, 24 MPG on open highway with NO engine mods yet.
